Drayton used to keep to himself with little to no interaction with others. Now, through his work, he happily welcomes conversations with those around him.

Working as a janitor for Vista Care has opened many doors for Drayton. He states that previous to employment he spent most of his time confined to his apartment, seldom venturing out. Working as a janitor has now allowed him to be around other people. After just one year of employment he has improved beyond expectations.

“Drayton now has a purpose to his week with employment at Vista Care,” stated Drayton’s mother, Kim. “Staff help him stay on task so that he has a successful time during employment without getting overwhelmed. The positive interaction during employment is the needed foundation for building on the other areas of his life.”

Drayton works two days a week helping to clean Vista Care’s Community Connections Center. Whether it’s sweeping the floor or cleaning the bathroom, Draytons eagerness to help is very evident and his self esteem is at a whole new level.

“Drayton has helped the staff out by cleaning at the end of the day and making sure it’s ready for the next day when people come,” stated Service and Support Director, Misty Gunderson. “He works with a smile and is a joy to have around!”

Drayton has a bright future ahead. With the help of the supportive Vista Care team, he’s overcome the challenges that kept him from living out his best life. Now that he is thriving in his work, he can thrive in his everyday endeavors as well.
